Rei Kaminari (上鳴 レイ, Rei Kaminari^?) is one of the main protagonists of Chojo Gensho Pretty Cure! and a member of the Ghostbusters. Her alter ego is Cure Fantasma, the Pretty Cure of radience and respect.

Bio

Appearance

Rei is has a long wavy red bob and yellow eyes. The palette of her outfits usually consist of pale yellows or purples. Her normal outfit has a moon pin on the left hand side, a lavender short-sleeved shirt with a purple butterfly graphic (vectorbloom-styled), a dark purple crop jacket, a yellow sunflower bracelet on her right arm, dark purple denim pants, white legwarmers and dark purple sneakers.

Personality

Rei is a cheerful girl who always brightens up the mood with her enthusiasm. She would gladly be friends with anyone who greets her. Rei is oblivious to sarcasm and doesn't know if people are talking to her behind her back, but she doesn't seem to mind. She's actually more daring and adventurous than what many would expect, especially since she was more introverted as a child. Her excitement for anything and everything sometimes results in her putting herself and others in danger without her realizing it. She loves her friends more than anything, and would do anything to protect them, especially Iori. Rei has a lot of interests, but especially of the strange and paranormal.

Relationships

• Shirogane Iori: Rei's best friend and science partner. They met through Konatsu during their first year of high school, but they hit off almost immediately.
• Hidaka Konatsu: Rei has a habit of texting Konatsu with a silly meme now and again. While Konatsu doesn't think any of them are funny, she respect Rei's effort.
• Akamine Kokoro: Rei and Kokoro find solace in their conversations together.
• Slimer: Close friends.

Backstory

Childhood

Rei was the youngest child of Mana and Rentaro Kaminari. However, they passed away during a car crash. Rei's older sisters, Lily and Maiya, became very protective of her after the incident. Rei always looked up to the sky, seeing if the future would get any better.

Rei exceeds in academics, and has gone on to become an exceptional honor student.

High School, Pre-Chojo Gensho

Rei met Konatsu and Iori before the series began, meeting them at her first year at Sedai High School. Rei became part of the student council as part of the committee, while Iori became the secretary and Konatsu became the treasurer.

Getting kicked out of the Student Council

Amari Misa, the student council president, decided to kick out Rei, Konatsu, and Iori because they were out "hunting ghosts".

Cure Fantasma

Cure Fantasma is the alter ego of Rei. She represents the radience and respect of a sunflower. She transforms using the Grimoire and attacks with the Ghoul Baton. The original version of the form was Cure Fantastic. Another holder of the form was Spectral Rei Kaminari as Spectral Cure Fantasma, and Misuzu Onitsuka as Cure Aureole.

• Trueno Forward (トレノフォワード, Trueno Forward^?): Cure Fantasma's first solo attack that she performs with her Ghoul Baton.
• Rayo Calamity (ラヨカラミティ, Rayo Calamity^?): Cure Fantasma's second solo attack that she performs with her Ghoul Baton.
• Miracle Seance (ミラクルセアンス, Miracle Seance^?): Cure Fantasma's solo action she uses for healing.
• Majiwaru Ethereal Crescent Proton Stream (交わる・エセリアル・クレセント・プロトン・ストリーム, Majiwaru Ethereal Crescent Proton Stream^?): A group attack she performs with Cure Starlight, Cure Hexerei, and Cure Anima. She uses her Ghoul Baton in this attack.

• Rei is the anime equivalent of Ray Stantz.
• Rei's favorite cartoon characters as a child were Dopey Dog and Stay Puft Marshmallow Man.
• Rei is the first and one of the only plus-sized Cures in the Euphonia Timeline.
• Her wardrobe is based on Homare Kagayaki's outfits.
• Her hometown was going to be named Karazomi, and later, Morisu. The new name for the town is pending.
• Mio was considering Rei to be a nickname and for her full first name to be "Yuurei", but it ended up never happening.
• Rei believes in astrology.
• Her super form was originally called Ghoulish Fantasma.
